Who Should Go:
Sunset Beach, North Carolina, is great for many to visit, but it does have some limitations on accessibility.
First, there are only two handicap-accessible beach access points, and it can be tough to get a parking spot nearby if you aren’t staying at a house around that point. The first access point is immediately when you access the island at the pier, a common tourist spot. The other is if you turn right and head to the end of the island to park near 40th Street, which is the closest access point for the Kindred Spirit Mailbox.
Second, the places to stay on the island are limited to rentals, private properties, or one tiny hotel near the pier. Remember your party size and how close you want to be to the island.
