Happy Friday everyone, I hope you all have had a fantastic week!! I am so sorry I didn’t post on Monday, I came down with a cold which pretty much put me on my butt all week! But I’m back and ready to talk personal! One of my favorite bloggers I’ve been following for a while posted a very personal blog today and it really touched me! So instead of talking about healthy eating (cause let’s be honest nobody wants to talk about that lol) I’m gonna be talking about my journey of self-love. I think this is something everyone struggles with daily or at least once in their life because we aren’t really taught to love ourselves. Throughout life, we are always taught to be nice to others, love those who love us, stick up for one another but have you ever once heard someone say love yourself…

I know for myself, I’ve never once heard “Love yourself” from friends, family, teachers or really anyone. I don’t say that to put anyone down or make them feel bad, I say that because many of us don’t think that it is important. I’ve watched so many of my friends and family beat themselves up because they think they don’t live up to other expectations or that they’re not worth it. I think this happens because we aren’t taught to love ourselves, whether we’re “perfect” or not.

Over the last two years or so I have most definitely been living my life to please others and looking back on that I am so disappointed in myself. What I did, how I acted, how I’d present myself was for everyone around me. I felt that if everyone liked me then I’d like myself. But after months of beating myself up for not “fitting in” or being liked by my “friends” I finally crashed. I think that crash was the best thing that has ever happened in my life. It taught me that it’s okay to not fit in and to just live my life how I want. I don’t know where this “perfect person” image was formed that everyone feels the need to follow, but I do know that if you’re following it, then you need to take a step back and ask yourself if that’s what you really want your life. Everyone fears being themselves, but why do we fear what is real?

So, to those of you who fear being yourself, don’t because there is nothing wrong with it. As long as YOU love who you are, then those who really love you will also love the real you. Who cares if you’re weird, or annoying, or talk too much, we were all created to be ourselves! Yeah being yourself, you might lose people along the way or you might feel like you’ve hit the bottom but up is the only way from here! So, I encourage you to embrace who you are and love yourself because I know you don’t hear that enough!
