Five Ways to Quickly Declutter Your House

Ever think about quickly decluttering your home? It happens. There’s always that one chair that gets covered in random items you say will get put away later. I feel like that is just life! That is why quickly decluttering your home is key. Life happens as you grow; you’re on the go more often, and when you’re home, you want to relax but know chores need to be done. And living in a travel trailer full-time, clutter adds up twice as fast.

Your home doesn’t have to be perfect, so you can let things slide sometimes! But, if you are like me, clutter can stress you out. So, I do the five steps every day to quickly declutter the house.

Make Your Bed

This is the first step in ensuring the house doesn’t feel cluttered. It is a simple step and can be done first thing in the morning to get it out of the way. Even if the rest of the bedroom is a mess, walking past a freshly made bed appeals to the eye.

Clean Up the Entrance

Coats, bags, and shoes can pile up quickly, whether it is just you or a whole gang. Quickly declutter by organizing your items by hanging them up, placing them in a bin, or tucking them away in a closet. This helps clear out the entryway and doesn’t overwhelm you or guests when walking in the door.

Take Care of the Dishes

This one is tough; dishes are the least favorite chore in any household! But having a clean sink is a great feeling. Got dishes in the strainer? Quickly put them away. Sink full of dishes? Rinse them off & put in the dishwasher, or promptly bust them out to one of your favorite songs. Makes for a clutter-free kitchen.

Touch Up the Couch

This is another super simple step to quickly declutter and is aesthetically pleasing. Quickly folding your blanket, throwing it over the back of the couch, and fluffing the squished pillows from movie night can help revive your tired-looking living room. Again, having a clear focal point in the room allows things to slide!

Sweep

This step may only be for some, but having only hardwood floors in your house makes this step key! Hardwood floors are so easy to get dirty and feel every crumb. Taking the broom or shark through the house quickly helps keep the floor clean, and fewer things to step on with no shoes!

While we may not have our lives entirely together, we can at least make our house look somewhat like it’s put together by quickly decluttering. Cleaning up a few small things around the house can make a significant difference. Not only does it help make the house look clutter free but it also helps ease the stress of walking into a messy house. You can shop all my home decluttering tools here!
