Different Date Night Ideas

Happy Friday Y’all! I hope everyone had a great week. I have been so busy this week with school and work I totally forget next week was valentine’s day. I’m normally a low-key type of person on valentine’s day and this year I’m going to be extremely low-key since Kyle isn’t here (We are ironically emailing about valentine’s day right now). One thing we have been doing recently is planning date ideas for once he is home, that we have things to do to spend quality time together. With valentines being less than a week away, I figured it would be fun to share some date ideas we have come up with.

I’m going to break this post up into three sections: Free/Cheap Date Ideas, Affordable Date Ideas, and Splurging Date Ideas. We (well Kyle) have been creating a running list of all the dates we brainstorm so that way once he is home, we can just randomly pick something when we want to do something together.

Free/Cheap Date Ideas

Sometimes it’s nice to stay in and save money, or maybe you’re in a situation where cash is tight. Having a great valentine’s day isn’t based on how much you spend, it’s the time you spent together. Here are some free or relatively cheap date night ideas.

Movie Night
So, this one might be one of our go-to dates. I wouldn’t even consider this a date for us anymore because we love watching movies all the time. But this a good date for other low-key couples. Valentines can be so overwhelming in public. So, why night pulls some of your old favorite movies, create a cozy area in the living room (we make a bed on the floor), and spend quality time together enjoying some of both your favorite movies.
Cook Dinner
Obviously, this one may cost you some money, but you already have to purchase groceries so just snag the stuff you need to make dinner together. It’s cheaper than going out and it’s a great bonding time. Maybe find a new meal the both of you can make together or make your guys’ favorite dish. You’re spending quality time together and then you can sit down and enjoy dinner together.
Face Masks
Now, not all men are going to do this because its “too girly.” But guys if you’re reading this, know she sits next to you quietly while you play video games or watch sports… the least you can do is something she likes, plus you can still do your thing and your skin will thank you. Luckily Kyle loves to do face masks, so we are always doing them.
Game Night
Board games are a great way to get off of your phone and spend time together. Play a couple of rounds of checkers or start a serious game of life. I force Kyle to play life quite often, we even bought the new version (with pets) for ten bucks at Walmart. Maybe you could buy a new game for the two of you two learn together.

Affordable Date Ideas

So, I say affordable because yes, they may cost money, but they won’t break the bank. Sometimes you’ve done so much you just run out of ideas on things to do or you just want something new to try.

Fast-Food Date
This kind of sounds weird but I love this date. Kyle and I LOVE cookout (Fast food place in the south) so we will go and eat there then we will share our favorite milkshake. Maybe try sitting at your favorite pizza place or order your favorite take-out and have a picnic at the beach or park.
Game Night
Yes, I have this one listed here too because there are plenty of games you can go play. We personally love to go bowling and could easily spend a couple hours at the bowling alley. Other things you could do are: putt-putt or TopGolf, couple rounds of pool at your favorite bar, share a bucket of coins at Dave and Busters, or maybe attend volleyball night on the beach.
Winery/Brewery Tasting
Neither Kyle or I like wine, but there are plenty of wineries where you can pay to attend a tasting class, get a free glass of wine and then you get to take the glass home. There are plenty of breweries that offer things similar, this is more up our alley. This is fun because you’re spending time together and learning something new about something you both enjoy. Kyle and I both have different tastes in beer, so getting to learn more about what he likes is interesting.
A Day Trip to a Surrounding City
This one may require some research before you take off but pick a city close to you and spend a day there. Try to find an activity to do while you’re in town and one place to eat while you’re there. You are doing something new and exploring a new area that you mind end up loving. On the drive there try a fun activity that you can play while being in the car.

Splurge Date Ideas

Maybe you just received a new promotion or maybe you’ve been saving to do something a little extra with each other. It’s okay to splurge on your relationship once in a while, especially if you’re celebrating a holiday or a big accomplishment.

Overnighter
You could do this in a couple of different manners. You could do a weekend trip to a city that’s a little further away. Maybe you live close-ish to the beach and you decide to get a room on the waterfront. Or, maybe you get a hotel room downtown. If you do a weekend trip you can visit a new city, on the beach you can relax and enjoy the waves crashing, or downtown you can see the city life.
Spa/Massage Day
This one might be tough to get guys to do, but most people can’t pass up an amazing massage. Try doing a couple’s massage together, or maybe you can get lucky and can convince him to get a pedicure with you. Or maybe try going to a salt room where you two can sit and relax.
Concert
Maybe your favorite artist is going to be in town and you guys could get tickets to go see them or try a bar that has live music certain days of the week. Maybe your favorite bar has live entertainment on Thursdays, have a few drinks and get dinner while listening. There is an Irish Pub Kyle loves going to because of the live music and its honestly so much fun to go and listen.
Attend a Class
This one you could be a variety of things. Maybe you guys like to cook so you attend a cooking class. Or you like art so you guys attend a wine and paint night. I think it would be fun to attend a class where you can create your own candle.

Yes, you can do all of these for Valentine’s day, but setting up date nights is great even when it’s not a holiday because you’re setting aside that time to give your full attention to your partner. When you two spend quality time together it helps you grow closer and create more memories.
